As the Covid-19 pandemic continues with the virus mutating and forming different strains, we need to find new methods of protection.
We’re become accustomed to signing off emails with Stay Safe instead of Best Wishes or even Love, but if you really want to stay safe, you need to do more than just wear a mask when required and follow the current Government guidelines for distancing.
At this dark and gloomy time in our history it is vitally important to build and preserve psychic protections.
Finally there is some good news, because I have a quick and simple solution for you!
Anybody who has visited a Japanese shrine or temple will be familiar with omamori, the amulets sold there for luck and protection. Usually taking the form of a small ornate fabric envelope containing an inscription of invocation, you can pick one which applies to the particular type of good luck you need.
The charm I have created for use during the pandemic is designed for protection from dark forces and ill health. I am using a syncretic approach by gathering together symbols from a variety of magical systems and recycling them in a powerful new combination.
You can print this out and keep it in a pocket or wallet so that it is close to your body when you leave the house, or download the image to use as your phone wallpaper or screensaver.
If you choose the physical printout, keep it safe in a paper or fabric envelope you can make from this template:
The foundation building block for this charm is the High Priestess tarot card. The High Priestess is the guardian of the subconscious mind and the teacher of sacred knowledge and hidden mysteries.
Sitting at the threshold of the conscious and subconscious mind, the High Priestess has an innate ability to travel between these realms and teaches you that the world is not always as it seems and more profound influences are often at play. She guides you through the thin veil of awareness, offering you a deeper understanding of the Universe and a heightened knowledge of secret or hidden information.
She is surrounded here by four ancient sources of power.
A bind rune combines two or more runes from the earliest form of written language for magical use. The Priestess is supported on the lower right by the bind rune for protection, used for amulets by Vikings entering battle.
On her lower left, you see the Crossed Swords which send a psychic message of “Do Not Pass”. This is especially effective against infection. With the blades up, they invite battle. Used here with the blades down, they create a barrier against enemies.
To her top left there is Hamsa – the protective talisman which wards off the Evil Eye and dark influences, and at top right the Eye of Horus representing protection, health and restoration, lending the Priestess an extra hand and eye.
A Japanese prayer as used in omamori is the final addition, adding a clear intention to the charm and acting as a guide and focus for the collected elements.
Keep it close to you for good health and protection. It is especially effective in repelling illness, minor demons, hungry ghosts and ill-wishing from any jealous or unhappy people you encounter.

It should go without saying that you still need to follow the current guidelines to prevent infection. This charm is intended for use as an additional protection, not as a substitute for these practices.
Stay safe!
